Computer Anti Virus

Before we can comprehend how a computer virus works, it is important to realise what a virus does when it attacks the human body. Only able to reproduce itself within another living cell or body, a virus is a small organism. Body cells can be damaged as a result of a viral infection and an individual will become ill as consequence.

The word virus literally means 'poison' in Latin and that is basically what it is - a 'poison', able to reproduce itself within another cell or body and an example of an illness caused by a virus is hepatitis.   Whereas the human virus damages living cells, the computers files and hard disc can be harmed by the computer virus. The computer virus can be anywhere on your pc, usually hidden within a program, file or document.

These viruses are produced by felons, and other knowledgeable cretins with nothing better to do with their time except spread viruses to other people's computers. The sole reason for doing this is to cause havoc. Other computers, files or documents can be 'infected' by the computer virus, similar to a common virus like the flu (which spreads from one person to another).

The computer can be prevented from working correctly by a computer virus. As well as through removable storage devices such as memory sticks and floppy disks, it can spread itself through the Internet and through local computer networks. Because it is hidden, it is hard to detect and it can be spread to other computers, unknowingly, by the computer user.

A computer virus is comparable to a human virus in that it causes illness to its host. The amount of damage caused by a 'digital virus' is dependant upon what it has been instructed to do. Macro Viruses, Email Viruses and Trojan Horses are examples of terms used to describe different types of computer viruses. You will be able to control the security of your computer when you understand the fundamentals about computer viruses.
